[ox-en] Re: Please stop damaging the project!

Stefan my only interest in this was a theoretical question about the projects alleged a political nature. Somebody (I presume a debian person in here) invited Walther. He put up a defence which others didnt accept. The original question is ontopic - Is floss apolitical. My enquiries regarding acces to earlr correspondence was for me to undertake research about that and the rhetoric employed by floss people in defending this view. In my view to say it is no a left project belies the question. To say such a thing positions oneself within the modernist dialetic. The rational consensus of the modern world. My question is related to the line of research concerning whether floss remains within that (vapid) rational consensus of bing beyond politics Or whether floss continues its tendency towards being utside the odernist dialectic. That is a Complete BrEak wth the past. This is what I want to talk about. I know many flossers are tied to their logic and rhetoric their free speak. so be it. But some of us here are interested in this question. JW's site provoked responses and so it should - it is a real manifestation of the theoretical problem. The list is not being destroyed (although some of us get flippant sometimes). The list is destroyed by it being confined to what the high priests of floss tell us is on topic.... As i said I havent been able to read all this today as I have been fried it seems by storms. But I glanced at some of the reponses. IF Oekonux is what it is advertised as a "radical" list then it must be able to move beyond the level of response we got from the debians yesterday. The point made by someone (sorry) abut the Euro v Gringo outlook was a very good one in this regard. It is interesting to note that the proposal to kick was from outside Europe and the US. Some times you got to push the envelope to get people thinking. I think yesterday did that to an extent. But now I think we should talk about issues and POLITICS. The strength of th list s that it can deal with this stff. Niall has provided a circuit breaker in one way. But I would suggest those that have left may e those who just don't want to think about hard things beyond the current floss status quo. It has seemed for a while the list has tensions, antagonisms that it hadnt had before. GOOD. If some move on what is so bad? As Adam pointed out we had a few join up as well because of Jonathon. martin

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi list!
Ok, when I asked people to not start a flame war yesterday I wanted to
prevent what is happening at the moment. Unfortunately with not much
success :-( . As of now already two persons unsubscribed from the list
yesterday which from the top of my head is an unprecedented case. Also
from very short scans of the traffic I saw that some people on this
list already complained about too much off-topic mail - which IMO is
much better than unsubscribing. Actually I suspected something like
this would happen when Paul started these threads some months ago.
Sometimes I wish reality could be different from what I experienced
far too often now - sigh...
To say it clearly: It is for sure on-topic to discuss whether or not
Free Software projects include persons which have political opinions.
However, I guess everything useful has been said already.
But is is completely off-topic to witch-hunt people in the way it is
happening here. Stalinist show processes are also completely against
the spirit of Oekonux. They are an all too well-known expression of
some parts of the left. However, please remember Oekonux is *NOT* a
left project. It can be considered trans-left and Stalinist show
processes and witch hunting are among those things Oekonux left
behind. I strongly ask every witch hunter on this list and every
Stalinist judge to comply to this or otherwise leave the list.
Also I'd like to ask everyone here to not reply to the offenses in the
current threads. Everyone can see that they are offenses and I ask
everyone to show enough sovereignty to simply ignore the offenses.
Also I want to note that this mailing list is part of a bigger
project. As the maintainer of this bigger project I feel it as my
responsibility to prevent damage from the project. The current
situation *is* clearly damaging the project, however, so if it does
not regulate itself I feel the need to do something about it.
At the moment I think the best would be to suspend the list completely
for a few days. I think this is due tomorrow if things didn't calm
down until then. If anyone can come up with better ideas which also
can be expected to work feel free to post them to projekt oekonux.de
which is the mailing list where the people are who care about the
organization of this project.

Mit Freien Grüßen
						Stefan
