Re(2): [ox-en] next conference

However, we need a city where we have enough active people caring
about all the local organization tasks. I think it should be a city in
a German speaking country. Vienna came to mind but I don't know
whether FranzN would be able to carry part of the load.

Funny, I thought of the same issue today and I wondered what
I would say regarding this. Even the date is nicely set.

Actually I am preparing a sort of "alternative" conference site
in conjunction with some businesses at the outskirts. The idea
is to have several space-owners join a cooperative - which would
provide us with flexible settings in a living museum of social
housing back in 1925.
But this will only work if there will be some sponsorship for
OxConf3.

The other idea is to get free space in the Universities or
at the Museums Quarter with the help of resident suspects
like quintessenz or monochrom. Recently "Dark markets"
worked that way. Some of you might remember ;-)

Basically the supporters base in Vienna is very small at the
moment. The *potential* base, however, should be pretty
large. Linux Days have been very successful here and opened
a lot of collaborations that did not exist before.
So *talking* about the possibility of having it in Vienna
might be a productive endaveour in itself ;-)
And the more the talk comes from outside, the better the
chance of response. Some of you have contacts in Vienna,
just bug them. The carriers of the load might appear...;-)

As much as I would have to say "no" at the moment I'd
rather say "let us keep it open and consider it - offer
the oekonux option to those who should sooner or later
be involved anyway".

Of course other cities should be considered too, but Vienna
might be worth that try.
