Re: [ox-en] Germ of a new form of society ? [Phylosophical Investigation]

Hi Niall, Hi List

Excuse me for taking this slightly out of context ... and understand that my sole motivation is to learn ...

Niall Douglas wrote:

if someone is wrong, even if they don't know it, they will not get me telling them they are right. I will tell them that they are deluded (ie; think something they think is right but is actually wrong) or a zealot (ie; think something and don't care whether it's right or wrong). They can dismiss me as a crackpot or troll fine, I did what I could.

You may disagree with how this is done, or not care but it is about fascism that's is the motivation. I myself have my own critic of anti-fascism but I do recognise anti-fascism effort as such.

I found a striking similarity in the method of the investigation ... almost mathematical ... but I can't quite but my finger on it ... and I don't want to go off lists because I'm a bit swamped at the moment.

It reminds me of the Epicurus / Democritus stuff I was reading and more so of Socrates in Plato's Republic ... like you can never get to the bottom of what Socrates is thinking other than by stating what's on your mind ... and then he tells you that you've missed something ... and yet not leaving you with a full answer.

Why I harp on about the Greeks so much is because I find in them a striking similarity also in the self / other, *I*/*We* method of investigational which occur across the lists I'm on, and suspect that we are experiencing the same phenomenon.

Socrates influence on Plato and thereby Aristotle is well known. The dominance of the thought of these characters in the world society in which we live is often missed.

How their schools were schools of information gathering and pier-review with the intention of determining how the states that had formed in Greece were ruled, is what drew them to me ... I caught my self thinking about prototype models because I've been involved in heavy prototyping like you I think, and no doubt many of us here.

To be honest I was a bit offended at first when some time ago Stefan thanked me for being philosophical - chewing-gum Stefan, that was my fault - I was just taken aback; I thought you were insulting me - I (k)now have read / grooked *that* email in fullness and say thank you. (My old love / hate dialectic kicking-in I'm afraid ... but a drive never-the-less - a strange animal I have become, yet conscious of my strangeness )

Oh ... I've digressed ... so much to do / so little time ... well the good news is to those of us that are reading up is that [IFSO] are our number one gang at the moment, and a good job too ... what a comet ... what a gang of scholars.

Oh ... I've remembered what the point of this email was - its come from your Ecosystem thread ... On the 28-01-04 you wrote:

 > Software development is an ecosystem

Could you conclude from this, that the following were true / false ?

*Information systems are ecosystem
*Ecosystems are information systems

... and ...

*information is an ecosystem
*ecosystems are information

... and ...

*information is life
*life is information
