[ox-en] Re: English link page

Hi!

3 weeks (23 days) ago Thomas Uwe Gruettmueller wrote:
There is something I like about www.gnu.org and www.debian.org:
The localized versions of these sites are kept parallel, with
foot notes on each page, linking the corresponding other
versions: "This page is available in [English] [French] [German]
[Italian] [Russian] and [Spanish]"

On the Debian web site, it is even possible to let the browser
select which version to display initially.

To do things like this would require some kind of content
management, and I don't know which solutions are available.

First of all it needs a web site which is meant to be available in
several languages. With the Oekonux sites until now I see this neither
doable nor something I would want.

To make such a concept any sense for Oekonux we need a bunch of
translators who are ready to translate in a number of directions on
demand. That would mean for example to translate all the German texts
- which is topic on this list since it's start. I don't see the
volunteers popping up so such a concept would mean an empty shell - at
least for now.

On the other hand I see the English / international part of Oekonux as
a thing in itself. The discussions are different, people are
different, atmosphere is slightly different, the size is different
etc. pp. In fact the German and the English web site have little
substantial in common. They share the blotter / Kladde - but that's it
more or less.

So from my perspective at least at the moment such a concept would be
neither doable nor adequate.
