PS Has anyone read Andre' Gorz's 'L'immaterial:

I don't supose there is an english translation of this
somewhere?

I imagine there will be, but don't think there is one yet - it
was published quite recently. Anyway, French isn't hard, is it ;-)

As far as I've read it so far, he does a good job of synthesizing
a lot of sources (Marx in the Grundrisse on the end of value related
to 'human capital' theories and the qualitative, non-measurable (hence
incompatible with value) nature of human capital, hence the trend to
access control/monopoly rather than sale at value-derived prices,
free software/guaranteed income/etc as alternatives...
It doesn't seem that there's anything spectacularly novel there so far -
more of a good synthesis of other peoples ideas (Marx, oekonux, Rifkin,
multitudes (he's not a fan of Empire though), etc). Low on fact, high
on theory, but way more readable than Empire.
