[ox-en] Initiatives for next Oekonux Conference

Some days ago Yuwei contacted me and said that she would like to care
about a 4th Oekonux Conference in Manchester - where she settled
recently. Yuwei offered help for a 4th Oekonux Conference long ago. I
referred her to Andres who also offered help for a 4th Oekonux
Conference some weeks ago on [ox-en]. Andres lived (lives?) in
Sheffield which - AFAICS - is in the same geographical region as
Manchester. I share the impression of Yuwei and Andres that Northern
England could be a good location for a 4th Oekonux Conference.
After this there were a short mail exchange which touched the
questions of the best city to choose and about the character of the
conference with a possible range from a real scientific conference to
a pure activists gathering. Also there were thoughts about a possible
date. May/June 2007 and November 2007 were discussed with a small
preference for the latter. Personally I'd think the date mostly
depends on how much "work force" there is for organizing the
conference: If it is little we need more time, if it is more we can
have it earlier. In addition there were some early thoughts on how to
organize such a conference and what next steps could be. One of the
most important steps certainly is to go public with this initiative
which is done by this mail.
Then a few days ago Magius sent a very similar question to [ox-en].
Magius also said that he is interested in hosting the 4th Conference
in Rome a long time ago.
Both locations - Manchester or the like and Rome - would meet the
requirements for a 4th Conference found at the end of the 3rd: A
non-German speaking European country.
Well, I'm actually delighted by so much enthusiasm :-) :-) .
My personal impression is that at the moment there is a lot of
positive energy for a 4th Oekonux Conference so we should really start
organizing it. For this it is probably most important to first agree
on a location and then on a date. Then we have a visible goal and who
ever likes to can start working on reaching it.
What do you think about these locations? Which one would you prefer
for which reasons?
Could you imagine spending effort in this conference? If so based on a
certain location or also virtual?
